Joseph J. Kracum, P.E., Owner and General Manager of Kracum Resources LLC, has a diverse background in management and engineering with 40 years of experience in the transportation, construction, and mining industries. His projects include public involvement, planning, design, and construction management of the State Highway 82 widening from Basalt to Aspen; the light rail conceptual design in the Roaring Fork Valley and Aspen; the InterMountain Connection, the concept phase of the commuter and guest rail line between the Eagle Airport and Vail; roundabout planning, design and construction management in Aspen, Avon, and Vail; feasibility study of using a funicular for the connection of Avon and Beaver Creek and transportation improvement studies in Mesa County. He has provided public process, design review, and construction administration services in Vail on the Village Streetscape Project and Meadow Drive Streetscape and Art project and transportation consulting services for the Town of Snowmass Village. He has provided consulting services on several other design and construction management projects in Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, and Mesa Counties of Colorado.
His eight years of on-site dispute resolution work on the I-70 Glenwood Canyon project helped to facilitate the completion of the $500 million project a year ahead of schedule and within the budget for the Colorado Department of Transportation.Mr. Kracum worked as a project manager and superintendent for a construction contractor building embankments, bridges, and railroads.He also worked for eight years in underground mining in Wyoming and Colorado, serving as a first-line supervisor, project engineer, and resident engineer of mines.
He has studied international transportation systems for ski resorts and is involved in planning and design work on transportation systems in ski resorts in Colorado. In addition to providing construction partnering programs and special studies, Mr. Kracum has provided overall coordination of the redevelopment of the Steamboat Springs Ski Base Area for the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority.
